I remember living in Middleton on Sea when I was between the ages of eight and 11 in the early 60’s and I went to Edward Bryant school in Bognor. We lived in a road called North Avenue East and I just remember the roads were very gravely apart from the main road that gave the seaside feel to it . I recall walking from Elmer Sands to Middleton in the 1950's and 60's. The sun was always shining. My Uncle Frank and Aunt Elsie from Morden in Surrey purchased a small timber chalet at Elmer Close in the early 50's. We enjoyed spending a week or two at Elmer Sands. The owners of Marks and Spencer had a big brick home next door and sometimes we played with them on ":the Hard".. My parents ...see more
I lived there as a young child from about the ages of 2-14 years old (1960-early 1970s). As a young child Elmer Road seemed to be at the end of the world. The main road heading east hit a dead-end and went nowhere. For years our world seemed, to me at least, to be the stoney beach, the village, Bognor town centre and nothing else.
