Bomb Crater At The Bottom Of Ramillies Road

A Memory of Mill Hill.

We moved to 52 Worcester Crescent, Mill Hill early in 1939 not long before the outbreak of the war. I am now 83 but I can clearly remember the bomb crater at the bottom of Ramillies Road. If you come from Bedford Road the crater was on the right not very far up, about where numbers 6,8 and 10 Ramillies now stand. This filled with water naturally and I remember Mum and Dad having a picnic, just after the war probably 1946 or 1947, sitting on the rim around the crater which to my young eyes was huge. Is there anyone out there who remembers this. If so I probably know you.

I lived at 53, Worcester Crescent and although I moved from there about 1959 I seem to remember that there was always a car parked in the front garden of 52. I went to Courtland school and then onto Moat Mount. I had a nice childhood there.
