More about this scene
The parade of shops which lined this section of Upper Mulgrave Road on the approach to the entrance to Cheam Station, which is behind the trees on the left, includes on the extreme right a branch of the Norvic chain of shoe shops, with a local outpost of Sutton Creameries next door. In the distance is the broad concrete bridge installed in 1927-28 carrying the four-lane by-pass south to Belmont and north towards London.
