More about this scene
The Ashworth Estate, covering 1,000 acres mainly of pasture, is still largely intact. This waterfall just south of School Lane had a race feeding the waterwheel of Ashworth Fulling Mill, which was to the right. The Ashworth family ran the mill in the early 1800s, along with Lower Clough Mill. They lived at Upper Clough Farm, which dates back to 1636. The family are buried at Ashworth Chapel.
