More about this scene
When this view was taken, it was nearly 20 years after the opening of the pool in Bishop's Road. Complete with diving board and under-water illumination, this facility was Hermione Longton's favourite haunt during school holidays. 'We used to have three pennies to buy a cup of Oxo in a white cup, which was very welcome when you were cold, and a penny bag of crisps. Another two pennies bought a bus ride back to New England'.
