More about this scene
The beautiful bridge at Monmouth is perhaps less famous than its sister Monnow Bridge, but it is still nevertheless performing admirable service here. It was rebuilt in 1617. Monmouth is in the heart of the border country. Henry V was a son of the town and is commemorated by Agincourt Square, perhaps the finest monument to the king. Another famous son was the Honourable Charles Stewart Rolls; he was the first man, in 1910, to pilot a double crossing of the English Channel, although his finest legacy was to co-found the Rolls Royce company.
