3 Church Lane
A Memory of Hornsey.
I was born in 1965 in Highgate and brought up by a Mr & Mrs Evans (Bert & Yvonne) at 3 Church Lane, Hornsey...the house back then was a boarding house for gentlemen only!
Mrs Evans worked for Wilson’s Dept store in Crouch End for many years and Mr Evans later worked at Hornsey police station a few yards from our house, I attended Rokesley infants and juniors school & later to Stationers boy’s school, I remember all the local shops in Tottenham Lane and recently found out that Ray Davis of The Kinks has a recording studio there too which opened in the early 70s, we must have passed him many times ...I think Mr & Mrs Evans were friends with almost everyone in the area at the time, Mrs Evans was born at 3 Church Lane as was her mother so there was a long history...
Mr Evans used to drink at The Railway in Tottenham Lane and The Hornsey Tavern
Our car used to be kept in that garage block opp Hornsey station which was only recently demolished as sometimes I like to go for a walk around the area to see the changes ...
