A fascinating picture looking south from the church. The line of houses in Turner Street can be seen in the distance, also some in Norwood corner area where our family moved to in the late 50s. On the extreme right of the picture is one of the majestic elm trees, sadly gone now, due to the ravages of Dutch Elm disease. The trees were such a feature of the village landscape in those days.
They had six daughters Sarah born 1880,Violet 1883 Mabel 1887, Edith 1890, Clara 1892,and Daisy 1895 my grandmother.
moved into cllffe, north road in 1969, sold up in 1976 n moved to berrycourt cottages cooling street, would love some old photos of our home to scan and save, all would be returned, desperate for pics of berrycourt cottages
I remember this shop very well, there was still sweet rationing then. Georgeous smells. Mr Parker called on Wednesday to take the order and delivered them on Friday even after we moved to Wainscott. What price Tesco Home Delivery!
