Amersham, The King's Arms Hotel c.1960

More about this scene
The King's Arms is not all it seems: all the timber-framing to the left of the RAC sign is modern, dating from 1936 when a plain Georgian block, itself tricked out with fake timber-framing, was drastically remodelled in Tudor style using old timbers, adding leaded casement windows and a jettied upper storey. Beyond is a genuine 16th-century hall house with jettied cross wings.
