A Selection of Memories from Wrentham

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Wrentham

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I lived here with my mum and dad, James (Jim) and Marjorie Smedley from 1963 to 1974. Before that we lived at Tower Mills, Southwold Road, Wrentham where mum and dad had a millimg business I went to the Primary School and later the Lowestoft Grammar School. The building looks a lot different now with the exposed brickwork. I didn't realise the building was Grade 2 listed!
The first two cottages on the left have been demolished. The grey and the white building. The shop at the end is what I own. It used to be a grocers shop, watch makers and a bakery. It was mentioned in the 1861 census but I cannot trace the shops back further.
I was born in the house on the right and spent my childhood here.  It's nice to see a photo of the crossroads with the Town Hall with the spire.
I think my Grandfather was born on this street! He was called Wilfred Albert Parsk and fought in the Somme at about 16 years of age He never spoke much about the war but I know he lost a lot of his friends. He died in the 1980s but his memory is still cherished!
