More about this scene
The upper front storey of the Corn Exchange houses the Town Council's chamber and offices. Corn markets were held to the rear and other of its uses have included: a drill hall for the Volunteers, dancing (as in the advert on page 28), exhibitions, roller-skating and bingo (in more recent years). It is proposed to convert the building into a cinema, which should keep the councillors amused!
