It is the calm before the storm of the modern motor age, though a delivery lorry on the bend presents quite an obstruction. This is still very much the age of the bicycle, as we can see from all those parked two-wheelers. The ashlar stone building with a Cotswold-tiled mansard roof, on the left, contrasts with the half-timbered White Hart Hotel down on the right and with the well-proportioned three-storey building situated on the curve.
