Wrexham Memories
A Memory of Wrexham.
I was born in Wrexham and spent the first 10 years of my life living in Bryn Estyn Rd, Rhosnesni. I attended Covent School, Gerald Street, then Borras Park Junior. I then went to Bromfield School where my dad was a teacher. A lot of my friends went to St Davids and I remember missing them so much. But it seems spending those years in same school as my Dad was meant to be as he died when I was 21.
When i was 10 we moved to Bwlchgwyn just passed Coedpoeth. I was in the choir in the old tin church in Rhonesni, I was christened in St Giles, I became the youngest server at the age of 10 when I had special permission from the Bishop to be Confirmed. O i have so many great memories , horse riding in Bryn Estyn farm, a friend who lived there, getting dirt on my green satin dress when I went to a birthday party at the farm. I was a friend with the Headmaster at Bryn Estyn Boys Home , we used to walk home together. My Mother worked on the Industrial estate, I remember Firestone, Celanese, and BICC where my dad and I would play tennis in their club whilst waiting for my Mum to finish work. There was also a bar with crisps and bottles of coke!
Waiting for my dad when he would have to rescue my Grandad from the Miners Institute in Grovenor Road, Visiting my Mum in War Memorial Hospital, normally through the window. Going with my Mum to Grove Park Boys to see Headmaster about my brother. As my first school was the Convent, I had lots of Saints days off!
Learning to play bowls on the green at the side of the Miners. Having my first packet of flavoured crisps in the car by the Miners.
