Wimborne, Minster Sundial 1908

More about this scene
The necessity of telling the time was obviously important to Wimborne folk. Apart from this sundial, there is the Owery in the Minster tower, a working astronomical clock made by a Glastonbury monk in c1325. A Quarter Jack, dressed as a soldier, appears on the outside of the tower to strike the quarter hour with a hammer.
