More about this scene
In 1849 Willenhall was stricken with cholera, and the churchyard could not accommodate all the victims. Dr Richard Wilkes gave a piece of land to take the overspill, and 211 corpses were buried there. It was made into a memorial garden in 1922. Willenhall recently won a national lottery grant to restore the park.
