More about this scene
The original George Hotel was Walsall's chief coaching inn during the era when the town was served by at least a dozen coaches daily. Its colonnaded frontage made it a distinctive and attractive building, but it was demolished in 1933, to be replaced by the hotel we see here. This was itself demolished in 1979 and replaced by shops.
