More about this scene
The first county council was formed in 1889, with the 4th Marquis of Bath as chairman. It used to rotate meetings around the county. After the county council had settled in Trowbridge for some years, purpose-built buildings designed by P D Hepworth were completed in 1940. Over time, the Bythesea Road site has expanded to include the County Library and Records Office.
