More about this scene
Watling Street has a good range of buildings, mostly dated 18th and 19th century, built in a mix of materials - stone, brick and render. The old Pickwick Restaurant recalls the Dickensian association with more dignity than its present name: 'The Pickled Pig'. Edwards' shop next door is now a dental care business, but the Pickwick's 18th-century shopfront survives.
