Brunswick Street And Ve Day
A Memory of Thurnscoe.
My father was brought up in Brunswick Street from being a small child, his sister born there in 1929, not far from the Hill school gates.
Dad remembered the celebrations on VE Day, with everyone out in the street. Unfortunately we have no photos of this occasion. I know photos were scarce, but my other grandparents had a group one taken in Probert Ave., Goldthorpe, so I wonder if anyone at all has photos in their possession, just in case there might have been a glimpse of my family. They were called Knight and grandad kept pigs in an allotment on Chapel Lane and hens in sheds at home. Their garden edged onto the field behind the school.
