Stockton And Thornaby Railways
A Memory of Thornaby-on-Tees.
Hello. My dad, Horace Jenkins, worked as a coach lettering painter for British Rail in Thornaby for most of his life. He died at 17 The Larches, Teesville in 1953 at the age of 46. He was the best lettering painter in the yard. When one of the Royal family were visiting Darlington station my dad was chosen to go to the station to have the trains looking their best. He took great pride in his work. Was also a talented water color painter. Does anyone remember him or our family ? Our mother was Ada and sister Ann who also worked at the office in the South Bank railway station. Any old photos or memories would be so nice. Thanks Muriel Redd ( nee Jenkins ).
