More about this scene
Teddington's population grew from around 1,000 inhabitants in mid-Victorian times to over 25,000 just a century later. Many found it a pleasant town to live in, not too far from London. One famous resident was R D Blackmore, the author of 'Lorna Doone' and 'Christowell', who worked here as a market gardener, writing his novels in his spare time.
