More about this scene
This house was built in 1787 by Sir Bourchier Wrey to replace a 16th-century building that was destroyed by fire. Its 'Gothick' design is conspicuous in a particularly beautiful corner of Devon, alongside the river Taw. Today, it has become St Michael's Independent and Day Boarding School, a much-respected educational establishment.
