Childhood
A Memory of Tadworth.
I lived here in the late 60's early 70's when it was closed. My dad Peter Bishop ran the pub up the road. Paid a nostalgic trip back here in Sept '19 and what a shame that the old place had gone. Still, brought back a lot of memories of playing in the garden and catching newts in the pond that was there.
We had so much fun exploring the magical building. My late sister and myself used to play 'shops' among all the piled up tables and chairs, and some fantastic hiding places were found when playing hide and seek or escaping from mum and dad.
We even tried to become budding pianists playing the piano that was in the lobby, Andrew Lloyd Weber would have been proud..not! :)
I also have a permanent reminder of my child hood days there as I slipped into the pond and cut my hand open. it was quite bad and I can remember my dad scooping me up, dunking me in a bath to get all the horrible nasties off me before heading off to hospital to get my hand stitched.
