More about this scene
The house was built for Sir Thomas Eden in c1593, of which only this range remains. In 1972 the 170-ton building was moved a quarter of a mile to a position 60 feet higher than the original site over a period of 52 days. The owners, Angela and John Hodge, wanted more privacy as housing developments drew nearer. They were able to occupy the house again in 1975.
