Coincidence... Meeting Up With A Sunnyhill Road Lady Here In New Zealand!

A Memory of Streatham.

Imagine my surprise the other week, whilst visiting Feilding in Manawatu, here in Kiwiland, I asked the lady in the museum where she was from, surprise surprise: Streatham.I said so am I! we must have met each other from time to time back in our childhood as she had lived so close to us, but our schools weren't the same - she went to Sunnyhill School and we first went to St Helen's, then Fidelis Convent in Upper Norwood.... I may return to see Streatham one day, would love to see it one more time. But it wont be the same. Our lovely United Dairy isn't in Valley Road anymore, used to love watching the glass milk bottles being washed through the windows! I have been away from the place of my childhood for what seems centuries. Been back a few times... we moved out to Surrey in 1969, and I came to NZ in 1970. I have a photograph of a United Dairy Milk Vendor getting snowed out in Belltrees Grove, and Mum going out to help him dig the electric cart out so he could deliver more milk around the area...

I also lived in Sunnyhill Road, my mother ran the greengrocers shop. St. Helens was also the school I went to and a classmate of mine 'Robin' emigrated to New Zealand. Any connection?
Just found this post. I loved the United Dairy in Valley Road but couldn't remember the dairy name or road. What great mental images I have from passing by that wonderful window! Thank you!
