Stourbridge, St Thomas's Church 1931

More about this scene
How long does it take to build a church? Work started on the building of St Thomas's in 1728, but it was not actually consecrated until 1866, almost 150 years later; this was because the locals argued with the vicar at Old Swinford, who wanted to install his own man as curate. The building on the left is the church hall, which was built in 1914.
