More about this scene
A closer view of Market Place, minus its Saturday morning stalls and with only the refreshment stand by the lamp- post facing onto the 17th- and 19th-century shops and offices. Those of the clearly emblazoned General Fire & Accident Life Assurance Corporation are among the latter. In the background, a rare town belfry in the shape of the early 15th-century clock tower rises above the roof of a 16th-century building.
