More about this scene
Stratford Road was first recorded in 1322, though it was just a trackway known as Shirley Street at that time. Shirley developed along it in linear fashion. This shopping parade was built for Shirley's growing commuter population in the mid 20th century, but today it is part of a seemingly endless string of commercial premises along both sides of the road.
