Selby Infants School

A Memory of Selby.

Hello, I have some fond memories of my old school....but also some not so fond ones! Remember Miss Hingley bringing me to the front of the class after an assembly as I had been spotted chatting!....she slapped me on the legs so much I remember being on the floor! She had blonde short hair that I also remember.
Some names - I do have vague memories of some other teachers....Mr Crossland, Mr Perry....I remember loving the country dancing in the playground and performing to The Wombles music! Parents came too. Only friend I remember is Melissa Fawcett...

I was Amanda Nicholls, went to the school from 1968/9 to 1976 when I went to Selby Grammar....became Selby High later....would be great to hear from anyone who knows me.

Hi Amanda,i went to the same school as yourself,i went from 1958 until 1964,unfortunately i don't recollect many happy times, but i certainly remember some of the spankings.
Miss read, was one of the worst,i do remember mr perry, he was related to my dad but that didn't stop him spanking me with an extremely large plimsol, and yes it was very painful.
Sorry your name does not ring any bells, my name is Raymond Bradley and my brothers chris and Keith and my sisters Margaret, Paula, and Mary all attended, nice to know i wasn't singled out for punishment, although it seemed quite the opposite at the time.
Hi everyone, my name is Steve Fawcett, I also attended the school from 1958 to 1965,. I have very happy memories of school life there including the memory of many teachers. i remember the sports days on the green at the front of the school, gardening in our own garden and then dreading Miss Reid's class. Mr Crossland was headmaster. Summer seemed to last forever and the school never closed even in 12 inches of snow which we organised snowball fights at lunch time
