Colliers await their turn alongside the coal staithes. Nearest the camera is the paddle-tug 'Hardback', which was built in 1901 for the Hodbarrow Mining Co, Whitehaven, and sold to Seaham Harbour in 1925. Her livery was black hull with a yellow line and red boot-topping, buff paddleboxes and superstructure, and black funnel with a yellow band.
