Reigate, Church Street c.1955

More about this scene
This view looks east from the upper windows of the old Town Hall along Church Street. This street is of lesser architectural quality than the High Street, with much neo-Georgian rebuilding on the right, including Barclays Bank. There are shopping parades of the neo-Georgian two storeys of flat-over-shops types built later in the 1950s beyond (a building site in this view). On the left the Market Hotel survives, and so does the building beyond, which is now a Café Rouge. This chapter's tour concludes here.
