Redcar, The Beach c.1955

More about this scene
Few people can now remember how crowded the beach became on a warm summer day - the scenes here were comparable with Blackpool Beach. Holidaymakers came to stay in Redcar after the Second World War, before cheap foreign holidays were developed; many of them came from Scotland and the West Riding. It would be difficult to find a space for your deckchair!
