More about this scene

Prestatyn is a very popular holiday resort, with three beaches and major leisure facilities. Its development from a little village straggling up a single high street began in 1870. However, it has an ancient lineage, and the Romans established a major settlement nearby. This view looks down Prestatyn's High Street, towards the new Rehoboth Welsh Presbyterian Chapel, which had opened the previous year, and the spire of Christ Church, built in 1863.

Summertime 1958 '6/5 Special' Prestatyn Swimming Pool

I have just seen the photo of Prestatyn Open Air Swimming Pool; and Katy McMichael's wonderful memories of times spent there in 1958. They so very much remind me of my very similar memories of the Pool. In the summer my friends and I had season tickets for the Pool - we just loved it so much. Record Shop, 186 High Street, Prestatyn
Does anyone remember the record shop at 186 High Street from the 1960s/70s. I just recently bought a 1964 Ford Anglia and the owners manual has S & J A Jones, Record Shop, 186 High Street listed as the owner. I'd love to know any information about them or if there are any family members around. Cheers. Ian

Happy Memories

I went to Vale View School at 72 Meliden Road as a boarder from 1960 to 1966 and those six years were some of the happiest times of my whole life. The headmistress Mrs Constance Gill and her two sisters Miss Edith Woodward and Miss Hilda Woodward who were both teachers were three of the most wonderful people I have ever known. Happy Times At Prestatyn
Happy times at Prestatyn--enjoyed 4 holidays there-staying in self catering around 1954-1958.Stayed in Victoria rd-think Conservative club nearby,, Grosvenor rd-house called Green sleaves-, a guest house/hotel with flat roof by sand hills and finally on Meliden rd,Highlights included my parents sending our things in a trunk, then we followed on by train from Birkenhead.Little trains on corner by fire ...see more

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
