Penrith, St Andrew's Church 1893

More about this scene
The square red sandstone west tower of St Andrew's Parish Church is Norman, and was part of the original church on the site. But the classical proportions of the rest of the church date from an extensive rebuilding in 1720. The whole building was restored by Sir A Richardson in 1945. The Saxon crosses of the Giant's Grave are in the churchyard (see the chapter on monuments and houses).
