More about this scene

Ormesby probably derived its name from the Norse 'orm', a favourite ship's name of the Vikings, meaning 'sea serpent'. Although the Broad is well wooded, this is a typical quiet creek, fringed with reed, fen sedge, and a multitude of plants which attract birds, butterflies and insects. In the winter, it is a favourite visiting-place for wild-fowl, and it is popular in the season for fishermen.
