This is a view beloved of generations of artists and photographers. The church of St Mary the Virgin was built in the 14th century. Generations of the Le Strange family have been buried here, and their memorials festoon the walls and floor. It is also members of this family who have rescued the church from ruin on two occasions.

I can remember walking up Sea Lane with my brothers, and visiting the little shop owned by Mrs Proudfoot, in the hope of getting some groceries for our parents (and sweets for us)!
