More about this scene
Opened in 1934, the bathing pool was one of the largest in the world and capable of holding 4,000 swimmers and 20,000 spectators. This made it the ideal venue for the annual Miss New Brighton competition, which was first held in 1949 and continued for the next 40years. The complex was demolished in 1991 after being severely damaged by gales during the previous winter.
