More about this scene
The jeweller`s shop, H Samuel (centre distance), which was beneath the clock, was once the former Post Office. Samuel`s Corner had a certain reputation in Merthyr Tydfil. The Arcade Café (right) was run by Italians and specialised in home cooked pasta. On the left beyond Bevans and Halfords was Rosie Royal`s; she ran a greengrocer's and a wet fish shop, and everyone knew her. Hanging from the King`s Arms is a Hancock Brewery sign (right).
