Manor Farm

A Memory of Longfield Hill.

I lived in longfield hill from the age of 5- (maybe a little younger, cant really remember)
My uncle owned the local farm called Manor Farm his name was Don Woodward he lived with my aunt Ivy. MY best memories were during the summer time, with hop picking, harvesting, fruit picking and pea, potatoes etc. There was quite a lot of us children in the village, so we managed to get. up to quite a lot of mischief.
They were great days could go on for ever, The photos bring back so many memories happy ones I must add.

My family moved to Longfield Hill in August 1939 when I was nearly 7,and my wife and I still live here.I have seen many changes over the years, not all for the better-eg no shops or buses for many years.
I knew Judith Gilbert--nee Breckon--until joined the WAAFS
when she was about 17/18.She used to go to local dances with
the village teenagers.

Judith, I've just read your Memory written back in 2013. I thought you might like to know that my great grandfather, John Doherty, lived at Manor Farm from about 1848 until his death in 1889. He and my great grandmother Elizabeth née Blunden had 11 children, 7 of whom, including my grandfather, were born at Manor Farm. Regards, Gillian Hakli
