3147 miles from New York, England's most westerly point was named Belerion, or Seat of Storms, by the Romans. Painted by (among others) Turner, written about by (among others) Ruskin, and with the Isles of Scilly visible on the horizon on a clear day, it is a dramatic place despite the hordes of tourists.
