Tyler's Croft

A Memory of Kingsbury.

I too went to Tyler's from 1959 to 1964, staying on for a fifth year and doing my GCE's. I remember my first science lesson with Mr King and how he introduced us to the "rough book" which we used to write down the science notes he dictated and then, when we wrote up experiments in our Science book, how we had to underline the title exactly one eighth of an inch underneath. He was very strict but very fair. When we got into the fifth year he treated us almost like human beings! I was in the school orchestra and played the flute. I remember telling Mr Perkins that I wanted to leave the school orchestra because I had formed a guitar group with my friends and thought the flute wasn't "cool" - what an idiot I was! Mr Perkins was never friendly to me after that! I was friends with Eric Cooper, Eric Davies, Richard Akehurst, Trevor Ellacott, Terry Evans, Richard White, Alan Hobden. I remember playing with our guitar group at a party we had at Kingsbury Swimming Pool entertainment room - I think Stewart Wilson arranged it because I think his father was manager there.
