More about this scene
The Ilfracombe Hotel (centre left) was built by the Ilfracombe Hotel and Esplanade Company. The imposing yellow brick Gothic Revival building, with 210 rooms and a 1,000ft terrace, put Ilfracombe in the first rank of resorts when it was opened on 15 May 1867. At 9am daily a coach left to meet the train at Barnstaple, returning at 5.30pm.
