More about this scene

This popular seaside town was built around a mill and an old village. The cliffs rise to about 70ft, and are the seaward end of the chalk ridge which stretches right across Norfolk. It is not as draughty here as it is on the east coast, but this photograph must have been taken on a cold day: all the visitors have moved inside the Golden Lion Hotel for refreshment, a quiet read, or a game of billiards. The Green is surrounded by good-quality hotels, and the local council selected this prestigious spot for the Town Hall (right).

‘Bert, The Picture Man’ – He Took The Silent Movies To West Norfolk – Looks Back On A Golden Age
I found this cutting from the Lynn News & Advertiser, Friday, January 12, 1968 and thought it might be of interest to others. IF ANYONE COULD BE CALLED A MAN OF MANY PARTS THEN SURELY MR. Hunston, Not Sunny Hunny !!
I lived in Hunston, for many years, have many memories of the Yanks the kit kat hole in the wall the Casino.I had a garage in Docking and in the latter years a furniture shop i Hunston. For entertainment I think the Country club took some beating on Thursday and Sat nights in the 60,s they actually had a casino there at one time. I organised one or two dances there, they were great times, on those night Eddies special punch bowls were fantastic.

My First Memories When We Moved To Hunstanton
My mother, Queenie Grounds, was the headmistress of Lynfield House School from 1946 until 1953, when we moved from Lynfield to The Homestead at the top of Sandringham Road, where it met Lynn Road. Missing Bell
I used to work in Thomas's arcade and I lived at old Hunstanton, so I would walk to work. I would always walk along the cliffs to go home, and it was on my way home one night at about 11pm that I noticed that the bell in the gardens had gone; it was there when I went to work that morning. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
