More about this scene
When Henry Styleman le Strange constructed New Hunstanton he wanted to give the resort some character, so he installed the Cross (right). Its true origins are unclear, but the most feasible suggestion is that it was the old market cross of Snettisham, which the le Strange family brought to Old Hunstanton when they inherited the estates, and had it installed here when the new town was founded.
