More about this scene

It is thought that the name Telegraph Road comes from a 19th-century telegraph station that stood on top of the Beacons, to the west of the road; but if that was the case, it was not part of the telegraph system used for shipping, as most such stations on the Wirral were.

One of the shops to the near right of the photo was Riley's fruit and veg. At Christmas time there would be lots of cut pines outside of the shop for sale, the strong smell of the pine lingers in my memory. Such a pity that so called progress destroys so many of the good things. Pete.
I went to the MB home in early 1950s. I lived Liverpool at the time (I live in New Zealand now) I was sent there as I had a health problem. I loved the place - I remember Nurse Rogers - and also the caretaker and his wife - The Sherlocks. I would love a photo if anyone has one. thank you Emma
