Great Times

A Memory of Heswall.

I was also at Heswall Children's Hospital between 1969 to 1973. I also knew Denise O'Gorman and a few others including Anne Fay. Every couple of yeas I go back and visit the town and my old school in Pensby. I have some very fond memories of the nursing staff that helped me during my stay, the doctors, Sister Brough but in particular Nurse Hessian. It was the best place to grow up as a child/teenager.

Good to hear from you Billy hope you are well l can't believe its been more than forty years.Hope you have kept well over the years.do you still live in Liverpool.

It was great to hear from you after all this time. It's hard to believe just how long it's been. My health is good since leaving the UK in 1985. Spent 18 months in the South Atlantic, 12 years working in the Middle East and have been living in Australia for the past 21 years so I think that answers your question. Now what about you Pauline? I have tried to contact you for so long find out what's been happening in your world please keep in touch. Bill xx
Well bill, you certainly have gone far. As for myself I still live on the Wirral in Irby which is ten minutes from where the hospital was. Im still nursing but just part time. I have two children and one one grandson. What job do you do that has taken you so far?. Have you settled in Australia for life? Did you marry and have a family of your own? Great to hear from you. Pauline aka faceache
After leaving the hospital I decided to pull my head in and do some series studying so I enrolled into Old Swan Technical College to study; Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Maths and Laboratory Instrumentation. After four hard years I came away with my City & Guilds of London Institute which enabled me to attend the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. I studied animal husbandry, genetics and my favourite subject electron-microscopy. Alas, this is where it all fell apart, I got bored. I decided I needed something new in my life so I applied for a laboratory position with a construction company in the Falkland Islands just after the war. Once again I studied hard and on my return to the U.K, I met Sue who is now my lovely wife. We have just celebrated our 25th anniversary and we have a son who works in Western Australia. Other than living in Australia I regard myself as being both grateful and fortunate being in the right place at the right time. Bill x
I should have added that I achieved my1st Class Honours at the University of “One up Man- ship” for bullshitting which has been invaluable too me thus far.
I can't believe you have done so well I am happy for you. You really sound like you've landed on your feet. I must put that down to my perfect life saving skills haha! Although should I believe the above with the honours in bullshit!! I don't know if your being serious or not. Yours sincerely pauline 'gullible'
I agree about your perfect lifesaving skills. There were times when even I would worry if I would pull through, as for being gullible I don’t think so. That’s not a word I would use to describe you.
Did I mention that Sue and I spent last Christmas in the UK last year? If I had known you were living so close I would have loved to have caught up with you face ache. We shall have to talk more about the honours degree some more next time as I’m honest as the day is long .Ha
Love Bill Xx
