I was born in Tredegar, South Wales in April 1941. My mother had been evacuated to that small welsh town when she fell pregnant with me in 1940. We lived with her parents. My dad was away doing War things. We moved back to London when I was 5 years old in 1946. We had a basement flat in Rucklidge Avenue. It had concrete floors and no carpets - bloody freezing! John Belemore lived at the Manor House in Harlesden with his wife Frances nee Whitby, her relation Robert Whitby was the Local Surgeon GP in the 19th century.
I was born in central middlesex hospital in 1949 and grew up in harlesden,my first memory is living above john collier's the tailor at 103a harlesden high street, we lived right up at the top and we used the flat roof at the back as our back yard, my brother nigel and i played up there all the time, no guard rails, dad said stay away from the edge, so we did!!! we only had 2 rooms and no kitchen, my mother ...see more
