Was surprised to hear it had asbestos there attended 1960 s remember Miss Naish english Mr Darby math and an art teacher who got the sack lol . It was in 1951 that I attended Lafone secondary school for girls. It was a brand new building and such a change from the other schools I had gone to. I loved it there. It was bright and airy ;had a science lab; cookery sections and outside plenty of sports areas. Above all it was exciting to meet new girls and teachers. De Brome now seems such a long time ago , all we have have is memories of how things were. How schools now are, from the former years we enjoyed or did not. I often wondered how all the kids we new then are doing with their lives. I was born in 1945 in sunningdale Ave , this road was opposite the REX cinema in hanworth. I was born in 1945 in sunningdale ave, hanworth, started infants national school in park road , then orial sec mod, then Debrome in boundries road next to the girls school lafone Hanworth has change quite a lot over the years I remember at the top my road there was two shops job's dairy and Coombs bakery on each corner. I was born in Feltham and lived there for 20 years, I went to a school in Boundary Road - Lafone Secondary for Girls. Also in the same road there was the boys' school, DeBroome (not sure of spelling). Anyway, having looked on Google the girls' school seems to have vanished, which suprises me as it was a newish building in the 1960s. I had a lot of friends at that school, some from Feltham and some from Hanworth. ...see more
