Studley Grange Road Commerce

A Memory of Hanwell.

I remember in the early fifties two coaches visited Studley Grange Road. The first was promoting KNORR SOUP. Children were allowed into the coach and given a cup of KNORR SOUP in a little plastic cup with the word KNORR on the outside in red. I had green pea soup, it tasted great and I went home to tell my mum. The result was that she bought some packets. Mushroom and Green Pea were my favourites. A while later another coach arrived with an aroma I shall never forget. It was MAXWELL HOUSE COFFEE. Again I was given a little cup but there was no writing on the outside. I went home once again and showed my mum. When she next went shopping she returned home with a tin of Maxwell House Coffee. When you took off the lid there was a foil cover I remember. From then on it was coffee for me! When my father passed away in 2004 I was sorting out some things and found the Knorr cups with the little red logo. I remember also Wants grocery shop later Dawsons. Also behind number 86 was a mattress factory.
