Staff Photos At Hamsterly Hall
A Memory of Hamsterley Hall.
When we were young we used to picnic in the grounds of Hamsterly Hall it was private but our family always had permission as my Grandmother Ann Burns was on the staff when Lord Gort lived there. Lord Gort and Lady Surtees would pick my Aunty Molly up who was a Nun from Rose cottage the Burns family home just up the hill from Hamsterly Hall where the humped back bridge used to be in a horse and carriage . The carriage was still in the old stables at the back of the Hall in the 70s looking a bit ruff.
Do you know if there is any surviving staff photos from this period I do remember seeing one years ago but don't know what happened to it. Also the monument thing in the garden of Hamsterly Hall was a gift from some Indian royalty or something like that.
Thank you
Ian Burns
